Guy's Marathon Walk in support of PRHC

Longtime hospital supporter Guy Aiello wanted to do something challenging and unforgettable in honour of his 100th birthday this fall – something that not only reflects his personal determination, but inspires others to support their regional hospital through the spirit of philanthropy. His goal was to walk the distance of a marathon – 42.2 kilometres – to raise funds for equipment and technology at PRHC!

His official marathon kilometre count began on Canada Day. Already an avid walker, Guy planned to walk 1.8 kilometres every day except Sundays throughout July. He was so determined, he didn't take a single day off and surpassed his goal, walking 56 kilometres in support of world-class care at PRHC!

Guy wants to thank all the well-wishers and generous donors who continue to support his fundraiser. You too can still donate online, or over the phone at (705) 876-5000.

UPDATE: The PRHC Foundation Mombassadors' 2020 Girls Night Out is postponed

Dear friends,

The PRHC Foundation Mombassadors were overwhelmed with our community's support for our annual Girls Night Out scheduled for Thursday, May 7th, 2020.

We have always been motivated to support the great care being provided at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Advocating and fundraising for the health and safety of our community members has always been our goal and number one priority.

As I am sure you are aware, the COVID-19 situation is continuing to evolve both globally, and here at home in the Peterborough region. The situation remains dynamic and we want everyone to know that the health, safety and comfort of our volunteers, supporters, sponsors, moms and families, and generous community is paramount. We are closely monitoring the advice of public health authorities in order to best protect everyone’s health. Unfortunately, this means that we will be postponing this year’s Girls Night Out.

Our group of enthusiastic Mombassadors and our title sponsor, Full Tilt Cycle, promise to bring this event back when it’s safe and appropriate to do so. We look forward to celebrating the resiliency of our community and the care being provided at PRHC all together at The Venue Peterborough on our new date Friday, September 18th, 2020. All purchased tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled event.

The need for life-changing equipment for our hospital’s tiniest patients remains, so we are very thankful for everyone’s continued support. We know that as a community when we work together, we can accomplish incredible goals.

We find hope in the fact that our community has consistently and repeatedly come together to make Peterborough and the surrounding area a better place. We will navigate through this time and come out stronger on the other side.

Thank you again for your enthusiasm for our event and your unwavering support of the PRHC Foundation and the hospital’s tiniest patients. We look forward to coming together on September 18th.

UPDATE: The 2020 Peterborough's Dragon Boat Festival is cancelled

As the COVID-19 outbreak has evolved and continues to impact communities all over the world, we have been constantly monitoring Public Health recommendations and assessing the potential impact on our 20th Anniversary Festival.

After discussions with the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation (PRHCF), and giving the situation serious consideration, it is with a very heavy heart that we have decided to cancel our 2020 event scheduled for Saturday, June 13th, 2020.

As you can well imagine, it takes months and a substantial financial commitment to plan an event of our size. The uncertainty of the situation makes it very difficult for us to continue with our preparations. More importantly, the health and safety of our community is of paramount importance and for all of these reasons, we feel this is the best and most responsible course of action.

Our Festival is a vital fundraiser for the PRHC Foundation, supporting world-class breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC). We remain passionate and committed to raising funds and supporting this year’s important fundraising priority: RIVA (Robotic IV Automation) technology.

The website will remain open to accept donations, please join us in our efforts at

We are sure many of you have a number of questions and we have developed a brief Q&A reference sheet. If you have further questions, please contact me by email at or by calling me at (705) 652-1206.

On behalf of Peterborough’s Dragon Boat Festival planning committee, the PRHC Foundation and Survivors Abreast Dragon Boat team, we thank you for your understanding and support. Stay safe, and we hope to see you at next year’s Festival on June 12th, 2021.
