Calendar of Events12th Annual Peterborough Dragon Boat FestivalDate: Saturday, June 9, 2012 Place: Del Crary Park, Peterborough New this year: Registration will be held exclusivly online. Register a team or sponsor a paddler here. PRHC Foundation is thrilled to once again be the beneficiary of this amazing and beloved community event. What will the 2012 Dragon Boat Festival support? Thanks to the more than $2 million generated by the Dragon Boat Festival and Survivors Abreast, PRHC is home to a state-of-the-art Breast Assessment Centre where women who need routine breast exams no longer wait three months. For routine mammography there is no longer a wait period. For workups the average wait time is 10 days, and for stereotactic biopsies it is 2.5 weeks. Proceeds of the 2012 Dragon Boat Festival will support the purchase of a new ultrasound machine for PRHC’s Breast Assessment Centre. This equipment willbe used to provide high definition images of breast tissue for cancer diagnosis as well as provide an enhanced ability to view and localize lesions when performing biopsies. Radiologists will also use these images to assist in planning future life-saving treatment. Art and Healing Show and Sale is returning to PRHC!Date: Thursday, June 7, 2012 Following a very successful 2010 event, the volunteer Art & Healing Committee is pleased to announce the return of the Art and Healing Show & Sale. Art and Healing is a juried show that will feature paintings for purchase as well as paintings that have been donated to the hospital’s permanent collection. The show will open on Thursday, June 7th (more information on the opening event coming soon) and run until Thursday, July 19th at PRHC. Partial proceeds of sales will support the Art in the Hospital program. This program supports the continued development and maintenance of an art collection that will enhance the healing process, provide comfort and celebrate life.
