It was an honour to gather together on October 23 to welcome the fire and celebrate the opening of the new Ceremonial Fire space at PRHC. The PRHC Foundation and donors are grateful for the opportunity to fund this important space and for the support of our regional community to help bring it to life.
Thank you to First Nations and Urban Indigenous communities, the Indigenous Cultural Team, our external partners and our colleagues at PRHC for the collaboration that made this possible.
Grounded in relationships, the mission of the PRHC Foundation is to inspire support throughout our region to provide PRHC with what it needs to ease pain, restore health and save lives. That includes healing spaces. And, in order to truly transform patient care for all at PRHC, that includes spaces that promote access to and respect for Indigenous healing practices. Transforming institutional space into Indigenous place is an important step towards providing expert, compassionate care that also supports the cultural and spiritual needs of First Nations, Métis and Inuit patients, families, communities, doctors, nurses, staff and donors.
We greatly appreciate the chance to be part of building a healthier future for us all, together.
