Every day at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, emergency teams have to make lifesaving decisions in critical moments. As a Level III Trauma Centre, PRHC serves more than 600,000 people across Peterborough and the surrounding area, treating some of the sickest and most seriously injured patients.
That’s why simulation training is such an essential part of emergency care. Using a lifelike mannequin, doctors, residents, medical students, nurses, nursing students, the respiratory team and partners like EMS, regularly train together for emergencies before they happen in real life.
But the mannequin at the heart of this training is now more than a decade old.
With donor support, PRHC can replace it with a new, state-of-the-art simulation training mannequin that better reflects the realities of modern emergency medicine, helping healthcare teams sharpen their medical skills, strengthen teamwork, build confidence and test their processes before caring for you or your loved one. The government doesn’t fund hospital equipment, so donations are essential.
