When Jennie Ireland got the diagnosis she’d been dreading, she suddenly found herself a 42-year-old single mom with breast cancer, scared of what her illness would mean for her son. But being able to get care in her community with donor-funded equipment meant less worry. “Receiving care at PRHC was my lifeline,” she says.
Now Jennie wants to make sure that others can get the care they deserve. She became a donor, volunteer fundraiser and a Campaign for PRHC ambassador to help Peterborough Regional Health Centre invest in new cancer care technology so a growing number of patients like her can get the care they need when they need it most, close to home. “But PRHC can only do it with our help. I’d like everyone who can to join me in donating so doctors, nurses and staff have the best equipment to provide the best care.”
