I’m excited to share a new project that’s close to my heart!
On Thursday, September 7, the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) Foundation will debut “Heart of Healthcare,” a video series hosted by me that promises to take you on an enlightening and inspiring journey into the heart of our regional hospital community.
In a world where the hospital system might seem like a complex web of technologies, policies, and procedures, it’s easy to lose sight of the individuals who truly make a difference in the lives of patients, their families, and our whole community. With “Heart of Healthcare,” we aim to bring these personal stories to light, celebrating the compassion, dedication, innovation and resilience that define care close to home.
Each episode will offer an inside look into the work of people helping to shape the future of healthcare right here in the Peterborough region and what it means for our loved ones, friends and neighbours.
At the core of “Heart of Healthcare” are candid conversations I’ve had the privilege of sharing with a range of guests. We delve into the experiences of doctors, staff and patients of PRHC, as well as donors and friends of the PRHC Foundation. We talk about their tireless efforts to reimagine patient care – from leading our regional hospital into a new era of cutting-edge services and harnessing the power of state-of-the-art technology, to ensuring unparalleled care remains available close to home and the essential role of donors in making that possible.
It’s about the incredible people in our community who dedicate their time and energy to ensuring our well-being: the experts and innovators on the front line and behind-the-scenes striving to bring new services to our region. It’s about the generous donors who fund the vital tools and technology PRHC’s healthcare providers use every day to save and change lives, and the grateful patients and Foundation ambassadors who partner with us to inspire others to join our mission.
In our first chat, I sit down with Dr. Lynn Mikula, the new President & CEO of Peterborough Regional Health Centre, at a favourite local setting. We discuss her path from the operating room to hospital leadership, how she found her first 70 days on the job, what’s happening at PRHC, and the hospital’s plans for the future of healthcare in our region.
